“My (now) husband, Adam, and I held our wedding reception at the Brixton Community Base in August 2019 and we could not have wished for a more wonderful day. Adam and I stumbled upon the BCB whilst walking back from the pub one evening and couldn’t believe our luck when we were shown the stunning upstairs room with gorgeous vaulted ceiling.

 We hired the whole of the BCB as a dry hire venue – we brought in/hired all services we required – had access whenever we wanted in the few days leading up to our wedding and were given free reign to decorate as we wished! The result couldn’t have been more perfect! I purged my mothers garden and we created a natural, green haven complete with willow archways up the stairs, eucalyptus garlands and festoon lights on the ceiling, pots of rosemary and tonnes of kilner jars filled with flowers.

 We ran a simple, open bar and hired a sourdough pizza van to pull up on the road outside the venue to serve our guests. Topping the night with a live band completely worked in the space, it created the perfect spot for speeches earlier in the evening and left enough floor for dancing the night away!

 The whole processes was easy to manage and it was wonderful to work with Jane, Len and Caroline. Although we took full responsibility for all planning, managing of services and set up and decoration, Jane, Len and Caroline were always at the end of the phone for the odd query.

 What we ended up with was the most relaxed, intimate evening which I can guarantee we would not have created elsewhere. I cannot recommend using this fantastic, local hidden gem for any event or party (hopefully for our future anniversaries!) and truly hope we can inspire people to make the most of this incredible space!”
